Twitter is a social network that allows users to send and read "tweets" or short text messages limited to 140 characters. Users can read and post or resend tweets from users they follow. Tweets can contain photos, videos or hyperlinks to websites. "Direct Messages" can be sent to users as well. So if we wanted to tweet at a politician, or a developer - those messages are sent as a public forum.
